Racing for the 2008 season went very well this year. Matt
took 12 of the more experienced dogs to the Knik 200. It
was a great run and a lot of fun for the dogs. The team
got a lot of funny looks from spectators at the end of the
race, simply because they were barking like crazy and didn't
appear to have run at all! Their effort was good enough
for 5th place in a very competitive field.
Two weeks later, an entirely different group of dogs ran
in the Klondike 300. It was a great race to test out some
of the younger dogs. Out of the team of 16, there were eight
2 year olds and one yearling! The conditions were far from
good, as we were inundated with heavy snow and warm temps.
The dogs proved their toughness, as they found themselves
in the lead early in the race and ended up breaking trail
for the other teams. Despite a second place finish, Matt
was very pleased with the way the team handled themselves
in this very competetive race in the 2007 Klondike we placed
3rd and in '06 we placed 2nd.
