Alaska Icefield Expeditions was founded by Dan and Chris Turner, who run the oldest operating sled dog tour company in Southeast Alaska. We have been mushers for many years, driving dogs recreationally on camping trips, participating in two Yukon Quest sled dogs races and offering winter and summer tours to visitors to Alaska. During the summer of 1995 we were on special assignment doing a two week trek across the Juneau Icefield with famed Japanese adventurer, Joshi Wada. The vast remote reaches of the icefield were incredible and the trip was a great success for the dog teams. The idea of summer glacier dogsledding was born. We are excited for the opportunity to share our dogteam and this magnificent country with you.

Over the years our glacier team has grown and is available in Juneau on the famous Mendenhall Glacier and in Skagway at the Denver Glacier dog camp. There are 25 people and 250 Alaskan husky sled dogs in each camp. It is a way of life for our mushers and sled dogs to live in "dog camp" during the summer—keeping in shape, raising puppies, preparing for winter racing and camping trips. Having guests to share this great adventure with is a bonus.
